Role Summary/Purpose
The Mechanical & Thermal Packaging Engineer leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in a specialized field. In this role, you will contribute to the overall strategy, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, and be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
  • Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems
  • Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
  • Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position with emphasis on system design methodology, mechanical and thermal packaging

    Desired Characteristics
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Strong backgrounds or experience in structural/stress analysis, heat transfer and fluid flow
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Experience with commercial engineering software such as CAD, Pro/ENGINEER, ANSYS, and Fluent
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • PC proficiency and analytical skills
  • Ability to guide and influence others
  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
