We are currently looking for a Full Time Medical Assistant with Internal Medicine experience for our faced paced Practice located on Dunn Road in Florissant, Misssouri. This candidate must be able to administer injections, obtain vitals, perform necessary testing; phlebotomy skills are a plus.
SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant performs miscellaneous delegated duties under the supervision of the Office Manager and or physician; assists in examination and treatment of patients. Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients chart or EMR.
The Medical Assistant is highly visible in their interactions with patients and must therefore project a positive image at all times including smiling, greeting patients with enthusiasm, and maintaining an upbeat positive attitude in all interactions with patients and coworkers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification as a Medical Assistant; CPR Certification; PC/Windows proficiency, medical coding proficiency, willingness to assign high priority to patient comfort and satisfaction; ability to communicate effectively and to work compatibly with physicians, co-workers, and employees in other departments.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Skills:
Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop,twist, assist patient in arising from
exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assistpatient in arising from and returning to wheelchair with accommodation.
DEPARTMENT STANDARDS:
1. Direct patient to proper exam/treatment room; accurately obtain and document
vitals; prepare patients for examinations and other procedures.
2. Assist physician with procedures as directed.
3. Instruct patients in all appropriate procedures.
4. Maintain, clean and/or sterilize medical and laser equipment.
5. Prepare and administer medications for injections.
6. Collect, label and document specimens and transport to laboratory.
7. Perform a variety of laboratory testing within the compliance of the office’s CLIA certificate.
8. Screen pharmaceutical representatives.
9. Maintain sample closet; dispose of expired samples and report needed supplies to appropriate personnel.
10. Post and update schedules; obtain necessary charts, and enter proper billing codes into practice management system.
11. Set up and stock exam rooms for daily use; clean equipment and rooms between procedures.
12. Handle properly the disposal of infectious and/or hazardous waste; clean autoclaves.
13. Chart test results in patient charts or EMR.
14. Must maintain basic knowledge of ICD-9 & CPT coding requirements and updates.
15. Accurately enter charges into Med Essential as needed.
16. Performs referral duties as needed.
17. Maintain neat and clean work area.
18. Perform other tasks as assigned.
