Immediate opening for a full time medical biller available with a progressive Orthopedic Practice in the Denver area. The Medical Biller is responsible for their particular accounts from charge entry through resolution of payment from insurance companies and or patients.  A good working knowledge of medical billing processes, the ability to effectively communicate with patients as well as insurance carrier staff is essential.

 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Verify patient demographic and insurance information accuracy that has already been entered into the computer system

·         Review Electronic Medical Record charges for accuracy. Post charges to accounts.  Candidate must be able to complete any missing information required prior to claims submission.

·         Batch balancing of charges and payment posting entries required. Work posted to a daily log.

·         Investigate and work to completion claims returned by an insurance company.

·         Candidate must be able to determine if adjustments are accurate if not, calls or appeals are made to insurance companies regarding discrepancy payments.

·         Secondary insurances are identified and billed.

·         AR to be reviewed at 60 days for insurance or patient follow-up. 

·         Collection activity including patient phone calls as required.

·         Take all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.

·         Daily preparation of outstanding patient balances due for next day schedule.

 

Qualifications:

  • Three years minimum experience in medical billing.
  • Coding Certification and or experience will be compensated.
  • Computer data entry skills, 10 key by touch and 45 WPM typing skills
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding and medical terminology 
  • Ability to communicate professionally with patients, insurance representatives and co-workers. 
  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting functions to maintain records and logs.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
