Assists Department management in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the Reimbursement Department Order team. Primary responsibilities involve: 1) timely and accurate verification of eligibility, and 2) submitting prior authorization requests for Cochlear products and services. Responds to requests for billing information and assistance from recipients, hospitals, audiology centers, physicians and the payer community.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for: verification of insurance and authorization requests to Medicare and Medicaid.
2. Responsible for follow up on authorization requests and authorization extension requests.
3. Responsible for customer service related calls and emails from recipients and clinics. (i.e. status of orders, placing orders, product questions)
4. Responsible for accurate records and memos in the billing service Infosys billing software program.
5. Provide billing/coding support concerning parts, accessories, and supplies for recipients, hospitals, audiology centers, physicians and the payer community via telephone and email communications.
6. Assists department management with prior authorization request updates for Medicaid States.
7. Special tasks or assignments as directed by Department management.
8. Other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 1 - 2 years experience in health care billing for Medicare and/or state Medicaid(s) and customer service. Must have an understanding of US coding systems. Must have excellent computer skills (preferably in Microsoft Office) and ability to use a fax machine, copier, and email efficiently. Knowledge of InfoSys billing software and Oracle is a plus. Must be able to work independently, be organized, have the ability to handle multiple tasks, be detail oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and have excellent customer service skills. Must be able to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and diplomatic manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. the employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. In addition, the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
