Medical Coder

• Performs medical coding and ensures all medical records needed for coding are received in the department and that coding and analysis remains current.
• Assists in reducing DNFB levels by maintaining a current billing cycle and ensuring coding remains current.
• Utilizes OPD exception reports
• Reports regulatory requirements per SPARCS and corrects errors to be corrected in SMS daily and monthly
• Communicates with Patient Financial Services in a timely fashion
• Implants - enter information into a spreadsheet and perform clerical duties as required

Skills Required:

• Very strong general knowledge of medical coding - MUST have minimum of 3 years coding experience.
• Must be able to read discharge patient records and pending discharge records to indentify billing discrepancies
• Experience with reducing DNFB levels and OPD reports
• Familiarity with SPARCS Perform related duties, as required.
