Job Description:

Kforce is seeking an experienced HIM Coding Manager for a prominent client in New Hampshire. Relocation will be handled on a case by case basis.

This job requires the individual to:


  • Perform all hiring, training, coaching and evaluations of employees

  • Conduct interviews of qualified applicants and checks references, makes job offers

  • Conduct annual evaluations of employees, assessing their competence and performance level at their assigned tasks

  • Conduct training for new employees or for new procedures

  • Coach employees when problems have been documented in performance, competence or behaviors

  • Develop corrective action plans as needed

  • Ensure the timely and accurate coding and abstracting of inpatient and outpatient medical records

  • Trains and advise the coding staff on the correct use of ICD-9-CM and HCPCS (CPT) coding

  • Assure the quality of coded and abstracted data, through continuous quality monitoring and chart audits

  • Ensure section productivity meets established standards and the coding and abstracting functions remain current

  • Code as needed or as time permits

  • Perform various managerial functions

  • Ensure policies and procedures for coding and abstracting are up-to-date

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of ClinTrac abstracting application

  • Assume miscellaneous delegated managerial responsibilities

  • Maintain timely and appropriate communication with the Director and subordinates

  • Maintains required personnel documentation

  • Instruct new physicians and allied health personnel on coding and documentation policies

  • Attend mandatory and voluntary educational programs

  • Support the mission of Health Information Management

  • Maintain interest and commitment to department goals

  • Work with staff to set departmental and individual goals consistent with the mission

  • Involves self and staff in departmental and interdisciplinary process improvement initiatives



Salary Range: $70 to 75K (Based on experience)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Registered Health Information Technician/Administrator (RHIT/RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)

  • Minimum of 5 years of coding experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT4 for inpatient and outpatient (including emergency department) records in an acute care hospital

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Coding Supervisor, Coding Manager, or HIM Manager of an acute care hospital

  • Proven strong project management skills

  • Must have initiative to work effectively without constant supervision and direction

  • Must be able to meet all deadlines
