Position Description:

APS Healthcare has a full time Medical Director leadership position available in South Atlanta working with the State of GA.

The Georgia program focuses on educating Medicaid members about disease management, which in turn leads to a more effective treatment plan and a healthier quality of life.

The Medical Director supports the Executive Director by providing strategic direction, leadership and oversight in the areas of program design and implementation. Responsible for the quality and medical appropriateness of care provided. Ensures compliance with State, regulatory and APS Healthcare guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities:
• Participates in the development of the overall strategy to perform contract deliverables
• Develops performance metrics for clinical and Quality Improvement (QI) staff
• Conducts provider liaison/education and outreach
• Provides nursing, care management, behavioral health, and other professional staff education and clinical consultation
• Conducts oversight of QI activities
• Corporate responsibilities as assigned

Education:
• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
• Board certification in a primary care field
• Valid unrestricted license in Georgia

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of postgraduate clinical experience
• Administrative experience in managed care environment
• Experience in disease management, case management and provider relations, utilization review and peer review
• Experience in quality improvement methodology
• Experience in program development and implementation
• Knowledge of unique needs of medically underserved populations
• Shall present personal characteristics, professional and ethical behavior conducive to maintaining high standards of staff performance
• Able to work effectively with an interdisciplinary management team
• Ability to evaluate patient cases from nursing assessments/interventions and claims data to recommend appropriate levels of care.
• Ability to use financial and clinical data to develop intervention strategies on the population level
• Evaluate organizational performance data to design program modifications
