MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT

DEPARTMENT OF OTOLARYNGOLOGY

FULL-TIME

We are seeking a seasoned Medical Office Assistant (MOA) with a surgical background. We will consider plastics surgery experience or dermatology experience.   MOA will provide clinical and technical support to the members of the healthcare team in the rendering of patient care.  MOA serves as a hands-on assistant for the physicians, performing tasks that both saves the physicians time and assists with the handling of patients, from taking initial patient interviews and vital signs to providing office based sterile surgical procedures in which the MOA  is expected to assist the physician as needed.  MOA must have knowledge about maintaining medical equipment such as light sources, endoscopes, SMR cabinets, vacuum pumps, liposuction machines, lasers, and surgical instruments.

Duties(but not limited to):

  • SchedulingAppointments
  • Complete insurance pre-certifications
  • Perform Presurgical Testing  procedures,
  • Provide Pre-operative counseling
  • Provide perioperative management
  • Assist in all surgical procedures
  • Provide post-operative care
  • Responsible for maintenance, care and cleaning of medical equipment
  • Keep medical/sugical supplies stocked

 Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • completion of six-months to one year certification program in medical assistance at an accredited school
  • Two years of experience surgical setting, experience with Otolaryngology specialtyis a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Basic clinical medications and procedures
  • Basic computer skills and mathematical aptitude
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Good telephone etiquette
