Medical Technologist

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

 

Medical Technologist/Technologist II for: Full-time for bench-work to career ladder positions


  • Medical Technologist / Technologist II
  • MT Specialists (Instrument, Teaching, Technical)
  • MT Workflow Coordinator
  • Reagent Lab, Technical Specialist
  • Technical Supervisor

 

 

Provides services of both a technical and non-technical nature in the laboratory service areas.  Performs routine and complex laboratory tests in an assigned department of the clinical laboratory to provide physicians with rapid and accurate laboratory test results.  Duties include: preparation of specimens for processing in the laboratory; performance of waived, moderate, and highly complex analytical process; establishing performing and documenting quality assurance, quality control and equipment maintenance; recognizing problems and identifying causes; developing alternatives and determining solutions; confirming and verifying results through an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments; correlating and interpreting data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results; data handling and input.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED: MS/BS/BA in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biological science to include specific college course requirements. College course requirements vary by discipline of the lab, requiring an evaluation of transcripts to determine eligibility. CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or equivalent for Medical Technologists or Categorical certification required for Technologist II.
