Medical Transcriptionist

Successful Nassau County laboratory is seeking a full-time medical transcriptionist to work directly with the staff pathologists. This position will be responsible for:

 - Live transcribing of pathology cases with staff pathologists

 - Proofing medical documents accurately and timely

 - Working with the OB/GYN staff to ensure time and accurate reporting

 - Entering culture results into the database and sending out completed reports 

 - Communicating with physicians to confirm patient information

 - Client follow up including patient results and questions for pathologists

 - Miscellaneous administrative duties as needed

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience, have knowledge of medical terminology and have excellent proofreading and grammar skills. Candidates must also be familiar with Microsoft Word, and be able to type 65 WPM.
