Corporate Meeting Planner
Major Duties: Responsible for all aspects of sourcing, budgeting, planning, coordinating and executing activities related to business meetings, board meetings, conferences, trade shows and special events while maximizing the return on investment. This includes hotel or venue site search & selection, budget preparation, budget reconciliation, budget presentation, contract negotiations, selection of food and beverage and basic audio visual equipment.
Candidate will keep current on trends, hotels, and changes in the industry to improve their effectiveness as a Meeting Planner and the overall success of all meetings and events. Responsible for cultivating and maintaining a high-value relationship with all internal and external customers and vendors at all times.
Candidate must posses the skills and drive to be a self starter who does not need constant monitoring and day to day nor hour to hour input / assistance in performing the task at hand.
Required Education, Experience & Skills: Bachelor's Degree required and minimum 5 years experience in meeting planning in either a corporate setting or hotel/catering atmosphere. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, incumbent would need 7 years of experience in meeting planning in either a corporate setting or hotel/catering atmosphere.
Detailed Knowledge: Site search & selection, contract negotiation, menu planning, audio visual equipment, budget preparation, budget reconciliation and administration. Both written and verbal communication skills are a must. Accuracy via written communications will be a major deliverable of the candidate. We will administer sample literary assessments prior to engagement. We will also administer a DISC assessment as part of the hiring process. Results from any/all assessments will be kept confidential regardless of engagement.
Skills: Solid Apple OS & Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook for Mac). Candidate must know how to work in Excel, formulas, formatting, etc., not just use it.
Detail oriented with meticulous planning, organizational and negotiating skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines while still meeting budget, creative problem solver, excellent verbal and written communication, works well in team-oriented environment.
Abilities: Relate to people in a manner so as to win confidence, support, respect and understanding in the purposes, programs, and goals of the organization.
Position requires 35% (or more) travel-which will include multiple overnight stays. Not all travel will be known far in advance. Candidate must not have any obstructions that would prohibit travel via air, car or rail.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills: A Bachelor's degree, Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification
