Position Purpose

Merchandising Execution Managers (MEMs) oversee service activities performed in store by managing dedicated Home Depot service teams and providing oversight to Factory / 3rd Party In-Store Service teams. MEMs supervise the work of a team of approximately 5-12 Merchandising Execution Associates (MEAs) within a multi-store district. These teams create an inviting shopping environment and enhance the customer experience by ensuring merchandising strategies are executed successfully, as directed by the Merchandising Execution Regional Manager (MERM) and Store Support merchandising team. MEMs are responsible for hiring, training, organizing the work flow, and conducting performance reviews of MEAs. They manage the team’s productivity and generates reports and rankings to improve team performance. MEMs manage their district’s HD Service budget, including overtime, payroll, and expenses. They also interface with Regional and District management and promote best in class activities across stores in a district.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Manage team by coordinating work schedules and activities. Conduct routine store walks and generate reports. Set challenging objectives and communicate expectations. Manage productivity ranking and improve team’s performance. Verify execution of team’s key deliverables, such as Merchandising Standards, product set integrity, product training, Point of Purchase signing, etc.
  • Select, direct, develop, and discipline team members. Coach and mentor employees and provide ongoing performance feedback. Provide guidance, set priorities, and assist direct reports with assigned tasks. Manage district budget, overtime, payroll, and team expenses.
  • Interface with Merchandising Execution Regional Manager, Factory Teams, 3rd Party In-Store Service Teams, and other extended teams. Attend District Manager staff meeting to promote best in class activities from other stores.
  • Escalate and resolve merchandising issues and balance inventories in the district by: Utilizing store systems to pull key merchandising and operational reports. Interpreting data, develop action plans, and execute; Performing regularly scheduled store service functions, when applicable; Changing on-hands and writing special orders to ensure inventory issues are resolved; Partnering with District and Store Leadership to monitor markdowns and expenses.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans for store seasonal layout for district. Plan and coordinate departmental Merchandising resets.

    Nature and Scope

  • Typically reports to Merchandising Execution Regional Manager

  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

    Environmental Job Requirements

  • Typically requires travel 5-25% of the time.

    Education Required

    Physical Job Requirements

    Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in retail merchandising service industry or working directly for large scale retailer with multi-location responsibility.

  • Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data using web based programs and handheld devices.

  • Merchandising background

  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience

  • Possesses a valid drivers license
