About the Opportunity
We are seeking a technical hands-on Oracle DBA Manager to oversee and run a team of experienced DBA's, as well as actively design, develop and maintain database systems for an existing account team. Production system includes a multi-terabyte OLTP, warehouse, and DR environment. Candidate should have 2+ years experience in a leadership role directly managing DBA's, as well as current hands-on experience with full life cycle support including development, test, maintenance, and support of Oracle databases. Will also be required to work with developers to design and build new structures to support future enhancements to the applications.
The right candidate is expected to be familiar with architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, backup & recovery, patches, upgrades, monitoring, and performance and tuning. Candidate must have good analytical, verbal and written skills.
Oracle DBA (Full Life Cycle Support)
Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership to the DBA Team in all aspects of database design, structure, and usage
Provide feedback on functionality requests regarding feasibility and complexity
24x7 support
Assist with design, development, and implementation of database solutions
Capactity planning, monitoring, and optimizing database system for growth
Work with application development staff to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
Provide expertise and develop strategies for incorporating technological advances into products
Maintain up-to-date knowledge with current and emerging database technologies
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years managing a team of DBA's
Minimum of 6 years of experience working with Oracle database systems on UNIX
10g experience
RMAN
Partitioning
PL/SQL
Strong performance and tuning skill set
Shell scripting
Oracle Data Guard
4 year degree in Computer Science or Information Technology (or equivalent experience)
Preferred:
Oracle support in .NET environment
Experience with Red Hat Linux and Solaris
9i or 10g OCP
Experience with Materialized Views
RAC setup/configuration preferred for future system growth, but not required
Netezza exposure
