The Manager II Technology position in Anthem's Provider Data Technology team is responsible for a 12 month fast-paced migration and consolidation of all 9 of Anthem's provider data repositories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in provider systems supporting the overall lifecycle of demographic data maintenance and consumption. The ideal candidate would have been a lead technical analyst before venturing into management. This is not an administrative management position. It is a deeply tech execution-oriented role, with a heavy emphasis both on technology administration and engineering.
Responsible for maintaining Information Technology (IT) strategies by researching and implementing technological strategic solutions to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Provides leadership in motivating the associates to accomplish Digital Technologies organization goals and objectives.
  • Implements IT modernization strategy on the responsible application portfolio.
  • Manages multiple cost centers and/or plan of record projects; delivers and supports software system solutions that support the operations of their functional areas.
  • Implements the policies, practices, and procedures of the company and Information Technology (IT) organization.
  • Establishes relationships with Business partners.
  • Develops a strong team through training and effective organizational development practices.
  • Audits quality standards of the processes and developed software periodically.
  • Obtains resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things accomplished.
  • Manages resources effectively and efficiently to support the operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of the committed deliverables to the Business partners.
  • Oversees department or functional area within business unit, which may encompass multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports.
  • Experience leading agile teams, preferably in Scaled Agile or Scrum
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or rated field;
    • 5+ years of experience in software delivery and providing direction for professional exempt employees (Manager I level potentially as project/team lead).
    • 3 yrs+ leadership or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Strong solution design and development experience is required.
  • Ability to manage across geographically diverse associates and vendor partners.
  • Health Insurance industry experience is a plus
  • Experience in Provider domain is preferred
  • Experienced in both Mainframe & Open Systems delivery & technical knowledge
  • Expertise in relevant tools and technical skills required.
  • Experience with different technology skills required including:
    • Informatica
    • Oracle DB
  • Experience in the following technology skills are an added plus:
    • Pega
    • Java
    • Webservices
