Mgr Regulatory Compliance


Job Responsibilities:
Coordinates the Export/Import compliance function for the entire Company, including AxleTech International and other subsidiaries. Serves as a designated "empowered official" for interactions with the U.S. State Department. Supports all aspects of export and import related activities to ensure compliance with U.S. Government regulations (i.e., International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)) and Company policies and procedures. Works closely with Company management, Security, program managers, and attorneys to analyze and address program requirements, identify the appropriate export compliance authorizations required, and provide advice on export activities and issues, including regulatory changes or other developments that may affect U.S. government approvals. Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting export licenses, technical assistance agreements, and manufacturing license agreements for State Department approval, as well as resolving customs and other international trade issues. Also ensures appropriate firearms/explosives manufacturing and transportation licenses and permits are obtained and renewed as appropriate. Supervises a staff of approximately three compliance specialists to assist with the above responsibilities. Maintains Company procedures related to export/import and firearms/explosives regulatory requirements. Interfaces with foreign companies and U.S. Government employees to complete and process export transactions, tracks the status of required agreements and export control licenses, and assesses potential impacts of export compliance lead-times on procurement, production, deliveries, and other operations. Provides export control briefings to employees, team members, and management, and monitors relationships with foreign entities to ensure compliance with export control requirements.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.

Required Work Experience:
8-12 years of defense business or legal experience that includes significant experience drafting complex documents such as export licenses and technical assistance agreements. Ability to read and fully comprehend legal documents and U.S. laws and regulations required. Prior completion of export compliance training conducted by Society for International Affairs or comparable organizations required. Prior experience as an "empowered official" under the ITAR required. Current U.S. Government security clearance desired.
