Manager, Software Development

Audible.com (a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.com) is looking for a dynamic and motivated manager of software development to join the Web group. As a member of the team you will have the opportunity to help build Audible's website and platform.

Description

Own the design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of secure large-scale customer-facing distributed software applications, systems, platforms, services or technologies.  Provide technical leadership and project management for development teams in all aspects of the software development lifecycle including hands-on software engineering using Object Oriented design, C/C++, Java, Perl, Ruby, Web Services, and SQL. Build, manage, and develop a team of engineers, provide mentoring, and manage resource allocation. Lead design reviews for engineers, and drive feedback on architecture and design issues. Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business objectives, and define technical direction. Manage and execute against project plans and delivery commitments. Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach. Report on status of development, quality, operations and system performance to management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field plus at least three years of experience in the job offered or related occupations of Software Engineer or Developer, Project Lead, or related.
• Experience in the job offered or related occupation must involve developing secure, large-scale customer-facing distributed applications using C++ or Java, Perl, Object Oriented design, Web Services, and SQL, Ruby, and leading development teams and projects throughout the complete software development lifecycle.
