Microbiology Faculty Vacancy

August 2010
Castleton State College seeks applications for a tenure-track position in the Natural Sciences Department beginning August 2010. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in microbiology or a related field (ABDs close to completion are encouraged to apply) and evidence of commitment to undergraduate education. The position includes teaching a sophomore level course in microbiology with associated laboratories and courses in the candidate's area of expertise that will benefit programs of study in our department. Castleton places a special value on the teaching role of its faculty, and candidates for this position will be evaluated principally on the basis of their potential to be outstanding teachers. We particularly invite applications from candidates interested in supporting undergraduate research, and contributing to the college's civic engagement and sustainability initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues are also essential. Castleton is a small state college located in the beautiful lakes region of western Vermont. Recent renovations to our science facilities include research laboratory space. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
