

Job Description We are seeking a Senior Oracle DBA \ Mid Tier for a key and long term project. This project is part of a very large software development effort comprised of over 70 highly skilled technicians located primarily in the DC area with scattered support structures across the country. The award winning project currently maintains 40+ custom Web based applications and provides innovative enhancements and upgrades to include entirely new solutions and development at the enterprise level. As a part of the DBA team, the successful candidate will need to have good collaboration skill, ability mentor, time management, as well as dedication to ensure the successful operation of the applications. Oracle Mid Tier DBA Responsibilities: The Mid Tier DBA has the joint responsibility to ensure availability of the Mid Tier components (Oracle 10 G AS, ESRI products, webMethods, SSL,OID, etc) of all the environments (Development, Test, Training, and Production). The primary role is to provide services in the Application Server administrative support of the environment and secondary support on the Databases. As a part of the DBA team, the Mid Tier DBA is ultimately responsible for the availability and efficient performance of the application and ancillary applications such as Web-Methods and various GIS and Content Management software and therefore responsible for proactively monitoring, planning, upgrading, tuning, and maintaining its components. Required Skills and Experience: 1) Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science 2) 5+ years in depth (expert level) with Oracle Application Server, preferably on Sun Solaris and/or other unix environments. 3) 10+ years of Oracle DBA experience in installation/upgrade, configuration, backup/recovery, sizing and space management, PL/SQL tuning, PL/SQL scripting and diagnostics, etc. 4) Experience with Oracle 10G, and replication with Data Guard. 5) Strong understanding of the Oracle 10g database, Oracle 10g database Real Application Cluster (RAC), Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Application Server Architecture including High Availability 6) Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems are a plus. 7) Must have ability to clone and migrate applications to other platforms/environments. 8) Should posses experience in monitoring and tuning database resources and activity 9) Exposure to Oracle Business Intelligence (or its predecessor Siebel/Hyperion), familiarity with below concepts: • common service-oriented architecture • common data access services • a common analytic and calculation infrastructure • common metadata management services • a common semantic business model • a common security model and user preferences • common administration tools 10) Exposure to Oracle Content Manager. 11) Should have strong problem solving ability – ability to quickly trouble shoot and resolve issues. And ability to think beyond technical perspective when supporting users. 12) Open, manage, and resolve Oracle SR's 13) Good communication skills (including ability to provide effective status information) 14) Must be proactive and self-motivated, and not wait for direction. 15) Highly motivated with strong commitment to quality and customer service 16) Experience in supporting Development and Production environments 17) Strong ability to deliver results under limited supervision, to follow a general work plan, check progress, report deviations, identify issues, and seek resolutions 18) Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment: share expertise, provide constructive feedback and coaching, and contribute ideas to other team members to achieve common goals.
