AMEC’s Mining & Metals business unit currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Mining Engineer with an Underground specialty for our Mesa, AZ office. The successful candidate will provide mine engineering and planning services, project management, and supervision of subordinates to support execution of underground mine projects. Mining Engineer, Underground – Senior (Mesa, AZ)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing engineering and planning services to AMEC and clients.
  • Serving as mining lead to manage projects (or parts of projects) to ensure that the work is completed on time, on budget, and in a manner consistent with AMEC and client quality standards.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines to ensure all components of projects are well integrated.
  • Attending site visits to gather information, meeting with clients, and/or monitoring performance of work.
  • Providing cost estimating and project scheduling support.
  • Developing and maintaining communication channels with clients, and internal AMEC personnel to ensure that work flows smoothly.
  • Mentoring and training junior AMEC personnel so that they are prepared to take on additional roles and responsibilities.
  • Fostering and enhancing client relationships and interactions.
  • Identifying opportunities to provide increased support to clients.
  • Assisting with proposal preparation.

 

Qualifications:

·         B.Sc. Mining Engineering from a recognized university.

·         Professional registration or ability to be registered within one year.

·         8-10 years experience in operations and engineering roles of increasing responsibility in the mining and consulting industry with focus on underground mine planning.

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (foreign language skills are an advantage).

·         Project and engineering management as well as budgeting and scheduling experience.

·         Familiar with mine planning software such as Vulcan, Gemcom, Datamine, PCBC, or Mine 24D for underground projects.

·         Familiar with scheduling software.

·         Willingness to travel.
