AMEC’s Mining & Metals business unit currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Mining Engineer with a Ventilation specialty for our Mesa, AZ office. The successful candidate will provide project management, mine planning, and engineering support for local and regional AMEC projects, with a particular focus on mine ventilation. Mining Engineer, Ventilation – Senior (Mesa, AZ)

Responsibilities:

·         Managing projects (or parts of projects) to ensure work is completed on time, within approved budgets, and in a manner consistent with AMEC and client quality standards.

·         Serving as the ventilation and/or mining lead to organize engineers and designers to execute relevant scope components for local and regional AMEC projects.

·         Attending regular site visits to gather information, meet with clients, and/or monitor performance of work.

·         Assessing mine ventilation, heating, and refrigeration requirements.

·         Preparing fixed facility recommendations, specifications and designs.

·         Providing cost estimating and construction scheduling support.

·         Mentoring other AMEC personnel in mine ventilation modeling, heating, and refrigeration engineering.

·         Developing and maintaining client relationships

·         Identifying opportunities to provide increased support to clients.

·         Assisting with proposal preparation.

Qualifications:

• B.Sc. Mining Engineering from a recognized university.
• Professional registration (or ability to be registered in one year).
• 8-10 years experience in operations and engineering roles of increasing responsibility in the mining and consulting industry with focus on ventilation and/or mine planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills (foreign language skills are an advantage).
• Project and engineering management experience.
• Budgeting and scheduling experience
• Proficiency with mine ventilation modeling software such as VNetPC or heating/refrigeration software such as ClimSim.
• Familiarity with mine planning software such as Vulcan, Gemcom, Datamine, PCBC, or Mine 2-4D for underground projects.
• Willingness to travel.
