Description: We are looking for a qualified Database Administrator that will be primarily responsible for the implementation, administration and maintenance of production game system and web databases.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily administration of our production database servers
• Installs, maintains, and upgrades database software
• Perform maintenance and upgrade of application schema components and database structures
• Review database related application updates for impact on performance and operations support
• Designs, implements and maintains custom reporting systems
• Maintain database backup and recovery environment, verify operation of backup strategy and data integrity; develop recover procedures; support recovery from loss of data
• Monitor and manage database replication and failover/recovery as needed
• Run database consistency checks and maintenance procedures and fix as needed
• Monitor and manage database server performance, availability, capacity and error logs.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve real-time database issues.

Requirements:

• A degree in Computer Science or related field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Three or more years relevant experience including implementation, administration and support of production database systems (direct experience with MySQL and/or Oracle preferred)
• Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, shell, etc)
• Strong reports/presentation building skills using applicable languages and reporting packages
• Experience with optimization and troubleshooting techniques to address performance problems on large high performance database systems
• Proficient with Linux operating system and utilities
• On-call availability for emergencies and willingness to work non-standard hours

Preferences

• Experience with billing systems a plus
• Production Linux/Web administration experience a plus
• Significant programming background in any applicable language a strong plus
