DESCRIPTION
The National Accounts Manager leads NAB’s retail initiative through coordinating national and regional call points, division sales and marketing functions, and the wholesaler network. This position ascertains the NAB opportunities with his/her national and regional call points and takes responsibility for collaborating with corporate and/or divisional marketing and sales functions to exploit these opportunities. The position also provides exposure to the Director, National Accounts (DNA) responsibilities allowing the organization a talent pool for that executive position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- Perform the processes necessary to sell the NAB portfolio through the national and regional off premise chain market
- Coordinate with DNA the integration of regional and national retail initiatives with division sales managers to assure effective wholesaler execution
- Assume DNA responsibilities either delegated by or performed in absence of DNA.
- Coach, mentor, and/or laterally lead Region and District Managers to prepare for the growing importance and complexity of national account sales.
- Fully understand the goals and objectives of national accounts and their competitive position in the market place
- Establish and maintain an effective call point schedule based on priority accounts for the region
- Coordinate efforts between national chain headquarters and regional offices as they pertain to local or regional sales execution
- Plan Trimester marketing programs and monthly brand priorities for NAB field sales and key wholesalers
- Maintain and adhere to the National Account Processes (NAP) and procedures
- Development of post and pre promotional analysis, schematic distribution and shelf space opportunities, category validator account strategy, and field sales reporting
- Work with National Account team and MIS to create national and regional pricing capabilities and wholesaler execution reporting (VIP/SRS System)
- Identify qualitative and quantitative training necessary to plan and communicate portfolio strategy through the three-tier distribution system
- Inspire field marketing and brand groups to support channel strategy through effective promotions, merchandising, and specialty package development
- Develop department administrative capabilities to communicate programs to all constituents, maintain competitive ad activity database, manage VIP/SRS system accuracy, create and distribute AC Nielsen reports, maintain pricing database, and administrate the RLT processes
- Develop and manage individual Retail Annual Business plans for each call point; including the identification of the account’s SWOT, distribution gaps, POC level opportunities and promotional opportunities.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES/EDUCATION
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of sales experience
- A minimum of which 3 years experience is with direct wholesale management
- A minimum of which 2 years of managerial responsibilities to demonstrate budget
- Significant experience handling the unique needs of chain clients across large geographies and a fragmented distribution network
- Significant experience leading employees and/or clients and influencing outcomes
Technical competencies:
- Written and verbal communication skills necessary to convey information to all constituents
- Advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Office (competence levels tested for Excel and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrate understanding of the category management process and technology.
- Intermediate AC Nielsen, Spectra, TDLinx, AdView analytical skills
- Ability to navigate hierarchal database to access and analyze store level information
