Naval Civilian Cost Engineer/Analyst

NAVSEA is seeking to hire and develop distinguished scholars interested in a career as future Cost Engineers and Industrial Base Analysts for a 30-month paid developmental internship.  Interns are groomed for ever-increasing responsibilities developing cost estimates and performing cost analyses supporting acquisition of complex multi-billion dollar new ships and weapons systems for the Navy.  Our goal is to ensure cost estimates for these acquisitions are accurate, credible, and provide decision makers within the Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) the information needed to make cost-conscious decisions for the Nation’s defense.  For these positions, NAVSEA is looking for applicants with outstanding engineering academic credentials and exceptional analytic and leadership skills, who work well in a team environment, have excellent written and oral communication skills, display impartiality and independence, and above all, possess integrity.


 


Interns in the NAIP career development program will perform analyses to develop or certify life cycle cost estimates, independent cost estimates or assessments, and earned value management systems for one or more major Navy shipbuilding or weapons system programs.  Interns will have the opportunity to participate in meetings with Navy design engineers and program offices, industry teams, and higher level Navy and Department of Defense (DoD) management, and brief results up through the Navy and DoD acquisition chains of command.

Job Pre-Requisites:  Candidates must be U.S. citizens, and must obtain a Bachelor’s degree by June 2010 in Engineering (Industrial preferred), with coursework in math/statistical science, and have distinguished scholar credentials.
