Digicon Corporation, established in 1985, is a full-service Information Technology Integrator and Solutions Provider to both government and commercial customers. Digicon employs approximately 300 employees throughout the Washington metropolitan area, as well as several other major cities across the nation.


 


We are currently in search for a .Net Developer to work out of our Corporate office in Herndon, VA.  However, initial responsibilities will include onsite support for our client near the Woodbridge, VA area in Prince William County.  This is a full-time employee position with Digicon Corporation.


Position Description:


Designs, develops, maintains and enhances global, multi-tiered business applications. Individuals holding this position will be asked to work independently, or lead others on a project team, as assigned. Candidates will be asked to leverage their skills in developing the application’s integration points with a diverse set of existing systems; quality, functionality and performance will be in high demand. The applicant must have a thorough understanding of the available technology, tools and existing designs. They will be asked to collaborate with business staff, IT colleagues and other stakeholders to evaluate defined complex business requirements and processes, determine infrastructure and recommend solution options.


 


Initial responsibilities will include onsite support for our client in Prince William County, VA including evaluation and improvement to existing VB.NET and classic ASP web applications.


 


Position Requirements:


We are seeking a strong developer, with deep knowledge and implementation experience ranging from distributed systems to cloud computing, who are passionate about technology, motivated to make an impact, eager to learn and grow, and who enjoy creative thinking and systems building in a collegial and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be a systems developer capable of dealing with ambiguity, proficient in C# and other web development languages, interested in large-scale cloud computing, and possessing solid communication skills.   • Work with customers/partners, both internal and external, to understand their needs, develop software, and collaborate on technology transfer

  • Formulate abstract and generic scenarios and translate them into specifications and code

  • Develop system and application prototypes, technologies and products

  • Build strong relationships across teams and organizations

  • Experience in distributed systems, operating systems, network and multi-threaded programming

  • Experience with large-scale database and internet-scale platforms or applications

  • Understanding of end-to-end solutions from backend servers, web technologies, and network transfer

  • Strong knowledge of software engineering and software development

  • Demonstrated track-record of strong and effective problem solving

  • Demonstrated experience shipping high-quality products, services is a plus

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage concurrent initiatives

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information technology (or commensurate work experience)

  • 4+ years of in-depth experience in object oriented business application design and development

  • 3 years solid .NET development using VB, C# and/or C++

  • Experience with web-based applications

  • Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) certification desired

  • MS SQL Server Development Experience (T-SQL and stored procedures) desired
