09/035 NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR LOCATION: Anchorage, AK PRIMARY FUNCTION: Install, setup, and monitor local area network (LAN). Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, support and training tasks to ensure LAN performance meets company and user requirements. TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored on or accessed by network servers and end users. 2. Work with IT Team at HQ to develop standard operating procedures and processes to help streamline the department and requests for assistance. 3. Administer network servers and workstations, utilizing one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and in stand-alone and VMware and Citrix operating environments. 4. Provide support to field staff and remote/satellite offices as needed. 5. Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software as directed. 6. Manage AllWorx VOIP phone system. 7. Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions in accordance with IT Team policies. 8. Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, file servers, Ethernet networks, wireless networks, network cabling, email servers and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades disk drives, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment as needed. 9. Maintain Corporate licenses in accordance with IT Team and license agreement policies. 10. Assist in planning and implementation of network security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users in accordance with IT Team policies. 11. Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. 12. Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems. 13. Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures. 14. Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability. 15. Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability. 16. Document network problems and resolutions for future reference using the Help Desk system already in place. 17. Rotate after hours and weekend support status on an equal basis with other available members of the IT Team. 18. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. A combination of a Bachelor's Degree and or Vocational Certification with three to five years of networking experience is preferred. The right candidate for this position will have the ability to work on and seek out solutions to problems on their own. Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems to include Windows Server 2003, SharePoint Server 2007, Citrix Presentation Server, Citrix XenDesktop and VMware ESX is a plus. Candidate should have knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Candidates must have the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to provide technical training to end users. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications. Work with users requires excellent interpersonal skills. OTHER REQUIRMENTS Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
