Growing radiology practice is seeking a Network Administrator for PACS, VR Transcription, Desktop PC, and general network support. The candidate will report directly to the CEO and Board of Directors. This person must be able to prioritize multi-phased projects from research through implementation and on-going support. Network Administrator
Role Description: Network Administrator’s role is to plan, implement and manage the PACS hardware and networking components required to achieve desired workflow.
Responsibilities: PACS & Network Administrator will:
- Understand the existing hardware and network infrastructure
- Act as hardware and networking point-person to all internal and external project participants
- Collaborate with System Architects to formulate the planned PACS architecture and network infrastructure
- Order and implement hardware and software for PACS and networking
- Be responsible for overall configuration and ongoing operations of the PACS hardware and LAN-WAN network, including connectivity to all imaging facilities and vendors (may include VPNs)
- Manage communications with all relevant project parties (including contractors, if applicable)
- If applicable, be involved in the selection and implementation of Data Center(s)
- If applicable, manage any data migrations from existing repositories
- Liaise with IT staff at imaging facilities to assist them in implementing proper hardware and networking connectivity/infrastructure
- If required, act as a network consultant to small facilities without their own IT personnel
- Support and troubleshoot PACS system and network (also liaise with other facilities PACS Admin)
- Plan and manage hardware and network scalability
- Communicate with and quickly assemble internal and/or external IT personnel as needed to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues
- Monitor, research and provide recommendations on any proposed changes to IT setup
- Establish and maintain a support escalation process to address PACS or networking failures
- Maintain documented records of the network configurations and connectivity
Requirements:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale networks
- Recent IS/IT experience, ideally, with PACS and/or RIS
- Preferable to have some experience with Radiological workflow and concerns
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and routing/switching protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong negotiation, planning, and organizing skills
- Ability to recognize and utilize formal and informal processes
- Experience communicating with C-level and senior management
- In depth understanding and knowledge of LAN and WAN architectures, VPN, QOS, IPSEC
- In depth exposure to switches, routers, firewalls, etc. in a production environment
- Familiarity with server hardware; familiarity with Linux is considered an asset
- Ability to manage projects and groups of people
- Ability to diagnose and solve problems across disparate systems and teams
- Familiarity with transfer speeds of the following: LAN: 100BaseT, Gigabit, Fiber, WAN: DSL, ADSL, Cable, T1, T3, Fiber
- Familiarity with: IP addressing, subnets, domains, etc.
- Familiarity with the following hardware in workstations and/or servers CPUs, RAM, SATA/SCSI/SAS disks, RAID, Video cards, NICs, UPS
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow-up
- Extensive experience with Windows OS:
- Installing & configuring hardware/drivers
- Configuring networking services
- Configuring security & user management
