Network Administrator
Position is located in Sparta, TN Assists the division IT Operations group in the configuration development and maintenance of select PC based servers and clients, including hardware, operating systems, and client/server application software. Assists the IT Operations Manager in evaluating and selecting technologies for the PC network. Creates and maintains user accounts. Provides technical support for system users. Monitors the health of server hardware and software systems and responds accordingly to ensure a high-level of system up-time.
Performs advanced configuration of select server hardware and peripherals, which can include system firmware, SAN management, fiber-channel zoning, volume segmentation, tape library management, etc. Participates in the installation, configuration, and health of Novell NetWare based core and utility servers. This includes startup files, patch management, login scripts, the NDS database, management consoles, and system utilities. Participates in the installation, configuration, and health of select Windows and Linux based application servers. This includes application installation, OS and application patch management, and registry and policy management. Supports utility server applications running on the NetWare, Windows, and Linux operating systems. These can include DNS, DHCP, FTP, Anti-Virus, Security, and Backup services. Creates and maintains user accounts on the various systems as assigned and approved by business management. Provides user training and support as needed. Assists in the evaluation, selection, and testing of hardware and software products for use in the PC network. Interfaces with vendors as needed. Responds to critical server issues as needed to ensure system availability and business continuity. Interfaces with vendor technical support and IT consultants to plan system implementations and resolve problems. Maintains the configuration of the Ethernet backbone to ensure efficient and error-free communications between all servers and clients. This includes layer 3 routing and layer 2 configuration (including VLAN's, speed, and duplex at the device, port, and host levels. Contributes to the development and maintenance of client PC disk software images as required, including the Windows operating system configuration, to ensure hardware compatibility and consistent performance across the division. Contributes to the development and maintenance of client PC software application profiles as required, to automate the distribution of standard software configurations across the division. Oversees the site application of client PC images and software distribution packages for end users. Functions as a backup for the administration of the Novell ZenWorks client management system. This includes the application of Windows system policies to lock-down client PC's, thus enhancing system stability and security. It also includes control functions for software distribution and automated disk imaging, hardware and software inventory, and remote control for providing end-user technical support. Participates in the on-call rotation for after-hours Help Desk support, and responds to critical business issues accordingly. Fulfills administrative reporting requirements, including written project plans and preparation of monthly progress reports. CIBER, Inc.
