Position Description:
Responsible for developing and managing the Technology Architecture element of the overall Enterprise Architecture within their domain in order to govern the future growth and development of MCBC's IT infrastructure.
• Manages the technology architecture element of the overall Enterprise Architecture
• Plays a lead design role on key infrastructure projects within their domain (Network, End User Computing or Data Centre) and as technical consultant support to the solution architects
• May require travel.

• Leads development of Technology Architecture, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers.
• Takes responsibility for the strategy and methods used in implementing a Technology Architecture in MCBC.
• Manages MCBC’s technical strategies, policies, standards and practices, ensures that they are applied correctly, and promotes consistency.
• Takes responsibility for the technical integrity of projects.
• Promotes the Technology Architecture discipline within the wider IT community.
• Advises and takes decisions on the viability, cost effectiveness, appropriateness, and strategic importance of research proposals submitted by others.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of emerging technology trends and developments and identifies and investigates specific technologies, products, methods and techniques to assess their potential benefit to MCBC

Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
A minimum of CCNP, CCVP, or CCSP (Cisco Certified Network/Voice/Security Professional) current certification or verifiable proven work experience is required; CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert) certification (passed lab) highly desired.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature architectural judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems, program objectives and requirements, organizing programs, and developing standards and guidelines for diverse architectural activities in a global environment.
* Gather highly complex network and security requirements to be used in creating highly reliable and scalable network designs in a global environment.
* Produce detailed level design documents such as Visio diagrams, architecture definition documents, IP spreadsheets, device descriptions and narratives describing the function of the design.
* Create extensive architecture and design documents that will be used in the hand off from engineering to operations.
* Support the operations team during the transition into production and provide escalation support as required
* Manage current and planned network expansion, growth and change.
Requirements
* 7+ years of progressive Enterprise experience in networking and network security including 802.11, VoIP, VPN's, enterprise routing and L3-7 switching
* 7+ years of progressive experience in network design and implementation large Enterprise networks
* Skilled in designing, implementing and managing multi-site network solutions
* Sound and proven experience in Microsoft Windows-based server and client systems
* Demonstratable experience in Active Directory, LDAP, authentication protocols (802.1x, Kerberos, Radius), web proxy
* Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
* Capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic fast paced environment
* Demonstrate excellent customer, management and external organization interface and facilitation skills and have a proven solid understanding of business development, operations, systems engineering and development and product support methodologies.
* Review budgetary needs for maintenance and support of network infrastructure and make recommendations.
* Must be willing to work occasional night and weekend work expected for system upgrades.
* Ability to communicate and present ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
* Expert level network documentation skills including master skills with MS Visio
