An Network Control Technician is responsible for coordinating, testing, activating, upgrading and converting customers to the network by serving as the centralized technical expert for the company. 

Is responsible for Network test and turn-up for advanced network customer installation/ activations for data services, including routing, network transport and IP technologies.

Provides quality technical support for both internal and external customers.

Has frequent interaction with customers and external contacts, therefore, must be effective in interpersonal communications and technical problem solving skills.

Well versed in customer service communication. Regularly interface with Local Operations, Long Haul, Engineering, and Vendors to best isolate and resolve problems.

Troubleshoot, isolate, and  configure all equipment in the activation and conversion of service for customers. Act as a point of contact for escalated technical issues from both internal and external customers company-wide. 

Requirements:

Have 2-10+ years telecommunications data network experience. 

Advanced knowledge of Data Networking and telecommunications, including: DSL, T1, SONET, ATM, Ethernet, DWDM, TCP/IP, Frame Relay, SIP, MGCP.

Operating knowledge of various network equipment Cisco, Fujitsu, Tellabs , Nortel, Lucent.

Experience with troubleshooting data and transport circuits from DS0 to OC-192, DSL to 10G.

Advanced knowledge and experience with Routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS)

Strong written and verbal/phone communication skills.  Must be competent in the use of PCs and standard software packages.
