Network Design Engineer II

Location: O’Fallon, IL

Responsibilities/Overview

Provide technical guidance to the team involving existing circuits and hardware from customer facilities and other commercial contracts.  Identifies technical problems (i.e.; hardware, circuit design, capacity, optics, timing), and works to determine options which will mitigate the impact to the team and customer.  Provide circuit design review as needed and insures databases are updated to reflect correct and current solutions.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years experience in a function related to IT with application to the telecommunications industry.

Experience in the design of high capacity circuits utilizing optical transport media.

An understanding of the IP Equipment Standard Hardware Configuration v 1.1 and later.

An understanding of STS/VT Routing Specs for transition TSO’s.

Fundamental understanding of the commercial circuit order process along with the information elements generated including Firm Order Confirmation, Design Layout Record, Carrier Facility Assignment and Letter of Agency.

Must be U.S. Citizen and have Active Security Clearance

Preferred Skills/Certifications

·         Circuit Provisioning/ Engineering support systems (i.e. ACES, BOSS, F&E, TCOMS).

·         M1/3  2800 ADTRAN, ASX 1000, OPTERA 3500, Nortel DSM, ONS 15454 MSPP, Juniper routers.

·         TTC-FIREBERD 6000A, TTC-T-BERD 2310 in the circuit test implementation process.

·         PROMINA 800, NORTEL DMS-100/200, MSL-100, SPM, DTCI.

·         SONET, ATM, MPLS. 

·         Team Player with solid communication skills and effective client interface skills

·         Detail oriented with a can-do, open minded approach to problem solving.
