We have an immediate need for a Network Engineer II/Telecommunications Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description
- Problems are varied and range from simple to complex. Resolution is both reactive and proactive; typically requires significant research and analysis.
- Will work closely with the customers NOC onsite in client location.
- Will troubleshoot and resolve medium to complex network issues.
- This is a 4 / 10 work week on second shift.
Mandatory skills:
- expert knowledge of network layer 3 protocols: OSPF, BGP, HSRP
- expert knowledge of network layer 2 protocols: Spanning tree, VTP
- expert knowledge of LAN/ WAN topologies
- expert knowledge of transport: DS1, T1, T3, OC3, OC12, OC48, HSSI, sonet, metro E
- expert knowledge in VLANs and VLAN troubleshooting
- able to work in a NOC environment
- knowledge of Cisco switches: 1900, 2980, 3560, 4006, 5500, 6500
- knowledge of supervisor cards and MFSCs all flavors
- knowledge of Cisco routers: 2500, 3750, 7200vxr, 6509 switches running in native router mode
- ability to troubleshoot medium to complex issues in a fast paced environment
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- working knowledge of IPT and voice gateways
- working knowledge of Nortel Passport carrier switches
Preferred skills:
- Cisco CCNP certification preferred or applicable experience
- Cisco CVoice certification a plus
