Network Engineer

The Network Engineer's role is to design, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade both new and existing network infrastructure for a multi-data center environment. The successful candidate will also participate in the areas of Telecommunications and Server support.

 

The ideal candidate must have experience designing routing and switching environments for multiple sites on a global basis. This individual will have a hands-on experience, as well as design experience, with firewalls and VPNs. The candidate should have experience with application layer load balancers (preferably F5 Big IP). The candidate should have implemented and supported these designs.   The candidate should have full lifecycle experience (requirement gathering/defining, design, testing, implementation, operations).

Education:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a Related Field (REQUIRED)
  • One or more network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, CCIP, CCSP, (MPLS exam desired)

 

Technical Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of Networking Experience (CISCO preferred) including: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IGRP/EIGRP, STP, VRRP, HSRP, PPP, NAT, QOS, SNMP, VoIP, ACLs
  • Experience with BIND DNS
  • Experience with email gateways, Anti-Spam, Send Mail
  • Experience with Local and Global Load Balancing (F5 BigIP)
  • Fluency with UNIX; LINUX, Solaris and Red Hat, Debian
  • Network Security including: Firewalls, IPSec, VPN (Juniper preferred), Device Hardening, Vulnerability Assessment, Intrusion Detection
  • In-depth knowledge of network monitoring and other network administrative tools is required
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocol analyzers/sniffers and use in troubleshooting
  • Experience with Network Design
  • Experience with Telco provisioning processes required
  • Experience with Visio creating detailed network diagrams
  • Experience with installation, configuration, troubleshooting of multi-vendor switching infrastructure
  • In-depth knowledge of DS3, T1, ISDN, and DSL and other bandwidth link specifications and protocols
  • In-depth knowledge of heterogeneous networking components along with knowledge of routing/ switching involving VLANs
  • Two Factor authentication systems
  • Experience with SSL VPN
  • Experience with Cable infrastructure


Business Skills/Experience:

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with others regardless of departmental or geographic boundaries
  • Requires the ability to produce detailed technical documentation
  • Requires proficiency with PC software applications, E-Mail, and job associated applications/systems to expediently process work
  • Requires experience developing and presenting recommendations using Power Point to peers and management
  • Requires good organization skills to produce quality work, within required specifications, and within scheduled timelines
  • The position requires individual initiative and ability to influence events, rather than passively accepting them, in order to achieve goals. This means being proactive and a self-starter and going beyond specific job responsibilities to ensure goals are achieved or exceeded
  • Excellent customer service skills

 

Working Hours:
Normal working hours are standard Monday through Friday business hours. However, this position also requires participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and off hour's maintenance windows.
