Network Operations Center (NOC) resource requirements
Network Overview
The network consists of a variety of WAN and LAN locations and technologies. Currently monitor over 800 network devices within the Network Operation Center. Some of these devices include DWDM, SONet, Layer 3 routers, Layer 2 switches, load balancers and various edge devices.
Network Monitoring
They utilize HP Openview Network Node manager, and various vendor specific interfaces to monitor the status of our network. They are also in the process of deploying additional network monitoring tools to help make the NOC and network more efficient and robust.
NOC Resource Requirement
They are looking for a qualified network professional to assist with a unique opportunity. This position is intended to be a 9-month contract position with the ability to hire the successful candidate on a permanent basis at the end of the term.
The need is for an IT Networking Professional who is well versed in networking and has 4 - 5 years of network operations experience. The position will be responsible for the support of day-to-day operations of a variety of network infrastructure including DWDM, SONET, Nortel and Cisco Routers, Nortel and CISCO switches, VPN's, firewalls, and 802.11 wireless infrastructure. Will be responsible for implementation and daily operational support of a large enterprise infrastructure supporting over 7500 users across 6 states plus numerous external business partners via VPN links.
Will participate in a rotating 24/7 365 on-call schedule that provides after-hours support for the entire enterprise network.
Candidate must be highly motivated and show initiative. The network operations team is a highly motivated, operational organization. Drive, motivation and initiative will be a key component to selection of the successful candidate.
Preferred Certifications
CCSA - Checkpoint Certified Security Administrator
CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Administrator
