Network Field Engineer

Scope of Position:
Maintain cell site equipment for optimum system performance.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Answer and respond to Mobile Telephone Switching Office (MTSO) alarms, cell site alarms and calls from the Network Operations Center (NOC).
- Respond to all NOC call outs within a specified area and contact the appropriate field staff to resolve a system problem.
- Provide field support for new cell construction in the following areas: on site supervision, equipment delivery coordination, path alignment coordination, equipment installation, cell turn up, and cell optimization.
- Coordinate or perform maintenance of MTSO office and cell sites which involves the emergency generator, batteries/power equipment, the AC units, microwave dishes, antennas, towers, locks and fences, coax cabling, etc.
- Maintain PSTN and cell site circuits by routine or fault testing and repairing.
- Regularly scheduled night work; 24 hour emergency call out. Travel required.s needed
- Use alternate means of transportation to access cell sites (walk, ATV's, snowmobiles, helicopters).
- Maintain cellular radio equipment by correctly aligning frequencies with test equipment. Test for faulty circuits, repair or replace as necessary, and take radio measurements to ensure appropriate signal strength or quality and ensure radio operations are in accordance with FCC guidelines and test for faulty radios.
- Monitor cell site power plant equipment and back-up systems: 24v & 48v DC, 240v AC. Maintain generator and switch equipment.
- Receive, investigate, resolve and track trouble tickets.
- Coordinate tower, electrical, telco, and other contractors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with CDMA required
- 1 - 2 years of technical training or related experience preferred.
- Related experience in computer operations, switching, and radio or data communications preferred.
- 2-4 years cellular or RF experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
