The Infrastructure Administrator must be a team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and advanced technical skill. This position will interact extensively with a number of development teams in an advisory capacity for planning and in a technical capacity to complete implementations /tasks or troubleshoot issues. A positive attitude, patience, and a good customer-service orientation are essential.
The Network Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for the following:
Design and management of new or existing infrastructure solutions that include operating systems, software, business applications, networks, and security.
Configure Web Servers, SharePoint Servers, FTP, SQL, ISA Servers, SCOM, Windows Load Balancer and Clusters within the environments.
Create and administer virtual servers.
Actively participate in discussions with other infrastructure resources, project teams, vendors, and program area contacts to collect requirements and offer solutions that satisfy business needs, maintain security of the data and environments, and conform to data center standards.
Monitor logs, alerts, systems, servers, and applications for security, performance, and usage.
Complete routine backup processes, and restore if needed.
Inspect hardware servers, cables, switches, and related equipment for issues or adjustments.
Automate routine maintenance tasks. Manage existing maintenance automation scripts and programs.
Apply service packs, patches, updates, hot fixes, and version upgrades to maintain performance and security in all environments.
Manage Intranet, Internet, and DMZ environment security configurations.
Administer Active Directory and Active Directory Federation Services.
Establish security permissions on applications and files.
Establish secure FTP connectivity with districts.
Assist districts with ADFS implementations.
Assist development teams with application deployments.
Administer source control for multiple development teams.
Troubleshoot issues with tools, applications, connectivity, and security.
Troubleshoot authentication and authorization errors with AD and ADFS.
Manage expiration and renewal processes for hardware support, software license, domains, and security certificates.
Evaluate hardware capacity and recommend adjustments to accommodate growth or changing demands on the environments.
Research new tools, features, fixes or other topics to resolve issues, improve operations, or implement new business requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of the environments at all times.
