Job Title: Network Infrastructure Specialist
Job Location: Afghanistan
Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of several Network Infrastructure Specialists to provide overall network and communications support for US efforts in Afghanistan. Special housing, travel, and hospitality benefits as well as incentive bonuses and awards are available.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: Provide installation for any and all commercial or tactical communications as prioritized by the CJ6 and/or COR. Work with the Projects Officers, the CJ6, the COR, or any designee of the CJ6 while installing commercial and/or tactical communications throughout the CJOA. Participate in planning and execution of immediate and long-term projects, network expansion and integration with other networks throughout the CJOA. Support the installation and maintenance of wiring, including copper (network and telephony), coax, and fiber optic inside and outside of buildings. Provide outside plant wiring between supported FOB buildings within the service area of TCFs, ADNs, and/or CPNs. Coordinate with other military and civilian agencies or groups to contribute to the successful completion of larger tasks.
Qualifications: 7+ years experience with network infrastructure support to include both planning and wiring. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Must have an extensive background in commercial wiring, to include copper, fiber, and coax. Familiar with standard color codes for cabling. Experience with pulling, terminating, patching, and splicing cable. Extensive knowledge in direct burial cable and manhole and ducting systems and have a working knowledge of Installation, Information, Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) standards.
