Overview:
Installs, supports, monitors, troubleshoots and administers the security and operation of the networks and systems throughout the enterprise including hardware and software (e.g., routers, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPN’s, operating system, middleware and network management applications).
Responsibilities:
• Monitoring the operation of the network security devices to ensure proper functioning of lines, hardware, and software.
• Identifying and resolving complex security problems utilizing structured troubleshooting methods, techniques and tools.
• Participates with vendors and common carriers during problem analysis/resolution as required.
• Preparing and maintaining standard operating procedures for the network, technical specifications and documents, drawings and system documentation, and operating manuals.
• Evaluate new software and hardware required to meet a business need or to make a process more cost effective.
• Monitor and tune networks and system performance.
• Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• At least two, typically four or more years experience in the security aspects of multiple platforms, operating systems, software, communications and network protocols.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking, LAN/WAN architecture and advanced routing protocols required.
• Must have experience using network management tools to analyze, monitor and troubleshoot network related problems. (TCPview, EtherReal, TCPdump, Snort, etc.)
• Must have advanced analytical ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
