The position of Network Specialist has the responsibility of providing timely and professional support of administrative and student LAN, servers, VPN and infrastructure. Responsibilities include system documentation, daily administration and assisting users to resolve problems relating to hardware, software, and communication issues. The candidate must have superior oral and written communication skills, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Experience:
BA/BS Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years in a client/server production environment
3+ years experience with Microsoft Windows Servers and other services, including TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, IIS, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, and Windows 2000/2003 Domains in a production environment
Hands on experience with Exchange 2007 and SQL 2005
Hands on experience with VMware ESX
Proven knowledge of LAN protocols, network security, and disaster recovery methods
Hands on experience with networking hardware, and fundamental knowledge of IP based applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) for Windows
Experience with Veritas NetBackup, Mcafee VirusScan, and Checkpoint Firewall NG
Experience with HP Proliant server line
Experience with Juniper security equipment
Experience with NetApp Storage Equipent
Experience with Nortel Networks enterprise data equipment
