Network Specialist

St. Charles Community College enriches our community by providing life-changing educational and cultural opportunities focused on personal growth and student success in a global society.  At this time, the College invites applications for a full time Network Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain the local area network (LAN).

Duties

·       

·         Maintain and update computer and printer equipment for all academic classrooms (730+ workstations). 

·         Assist coworkers with support problems.

·         Maintain inventory of server hardware.

·         Participate in department unit planning.

·         Review/make recommendations for new computer hardware and software.

·         Document technical procedures to be used for reporting and training.

·         Research and evaluate software.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Extensive (8+ years) knowledge with Windows operating system and servers, network functionality, network printers, workstations and server support, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WDS, and Dfs.  Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting network-related problems.  Self-motivated, task oriented, focused on resolving issues, and able to function without supervision.  Strategically oriented to bring projects to full completion.  Effective working in a team and as an individual contributor.  Must assume ownership for evaluating the severity of problems and resolving issues.
