In this role, the Network Engineer will perform about 40% Cisco work and 60% Windows server/project work and a CCNA is required. This is a long term contract with possibility of going direct hire in six months. Job Description:
LAN Engineer position supporting various Corporate IT network services. This Engineer will provide router, Ethernet switch, firewall, Internet access, DNS, VPN, remote access, WAN carrier and other corporate related networking support along with Tier 3 Windows server environment support for business critical applications
Responsibilities:
- Cisco Equipment Management and Maintenance
- Proactively administer the network using performance monitoring tools and alerts
- Maintain product knowledge of Cisco systems and supporting products
- Perform maintenance and necessary enhancements on the B&L Cisco and Windows server environment
- Perform research and development on new products for evaluation and eventual deployment
- Ensure Windows and Cisco systems meet design standards and guidelines
- Document, coordinate and schedule all appropriate work in the development of assigned pro objects/tasks
- Work on enterprise-wide teams to support business unit and/or division initiatives
- Create and maintain documentation on the B&L Cisco and Windows environments
- Assist in the development and support of Corporate connectivity utilizing the current and future carriers networks
- Assist in the development and support of the Corporate remote access system utilizing the current and future carriers networks
- Assist in the development and support of the Corporate Internet access points and their security
- Assist in the development and support of the disaster recovery / remote offices LANs and o other related networking equipment
- Develop long-term strategies for the B&L environment to stay current with technology and provide the required functionality to the organization
- Develop standards and policies fo or the organizations Cisco and Windows server environments
- Support and maintain imaging system
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Skills:
- BS degree in Information Technology or related field with 3 to 5 years experience in computer information systems and LAN management
- CCNA certification required
- MCSE a plus
- In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS // ACS, etc
- Knowledge of Microsoft server products such as SQL Server, Exchange 2003 / 2007
- In-depth knowledge of Windows 2000 / 2003 / 2008
- Experience in project management, documentation and work flows
