Overview:
Implement, monitor and support the company’s network infrastructure across the enterprise based on requirements and standards set forth by the Network Engineering group and our customers. It is imperative that appropriate standards are documented, maintained and followed with the goal of providing high network availability and an unsurpassed level of service to our customers.
Responsibilities:
• Troubleshoot and provide solutions to routine hardware and software problems.
• Escalate problems to the Network Engineering group or management when sensitive issues or a major problem is suspected.
• Minimize client productivity loss caused by technical outages.
• Provide infrastructure support to meet various business needs.
• Maintain network equipment for service replacements or upgrades as detailed with vendor maintenance agreements.
• Monitor the Remedy Helpdesk system for daily trouble tickets.
• Provide quick problem resolution for open issues. Ensure data pertaining to the status of the service requests are entered into help desk tracking systems.
• Monitor and control infrastructure performance in the areas of response, throughput and availability.
• Aid in locating the necessary tools and processes to identify troublesome trends. Understand identified trends and plans designed to resolve problems and prevent them from recurring.
• Provide 24x7 on call support for all sites in North America. This is a shared responsibility with other members of the Network Operations team and is handled on a rotational basis.
• Work with customers to adapt their applications and infrastructure to the approved GIS standards.
• Document network configurations: provide Visio diagrams for network configurations; document equipment configurations; maintain port to node list and other pertinent information for troubleshooting from afar.
• Assist in various IT projects intended to continually improve the network infrastructure.
• Evaluate new software and hardware required to meet a business need or to make a process more cost effective.
• Make smart business decisions and manage projects independently, sometimes under tight deadlines.
• Occasional lifting of heavy equipment is required.
Qualifications:
• B.S./M.S. or B.A./M.B.A. in Computer Science, Information Systems Business and/or equivalent formal training or work experience.
• CCNP/CCIE certification or equivalent job related experience.
• Minimum three years in a directly related technical role.
• Minimum of two years in a Cisco environment.
• A thorough understanding of Cisco IOS, CATOS and extensive hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches and VPN devices.
• A thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking and LAN/WAN architecture.
• Minimum three years experience working with advanced routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, STP, VTP, MPLS, IPSEC.
• Experience using network management tools to analyze, monitor and troubleshoot network related problems.
• Experience implementing routing policies through access lists, filters and AS-Path controls.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
Other skills and experience desired:
• Experience implementing and troubleshooting QoS/CoS in a VOIP environment.
• Experience implementing and managing F5 Big IP servers.
• Experience implementing and managing Packeteer appliances.
• Experience managing and maintaining HP Openview NNM.
• Experience with RADIUS and TACACS.
• Experience with Unix, Linux and Microsoft OS.
• Miscellaneous Software: MS Project, MS Visio, Ethereal, Voyence, Nagios, Cacti.

Shift:
Midnight to 8:00 am, Monday through Friday
