J. Spargo & Associates, Inc. is an event management company located in Fairfax, VA.  We have an opening for a Network Technician who will provide proactive and extensible solutions to ensure a stable network infrastructure for us and our customers.  The applicant will provide hands-on server and network configuration and support.  They will review and further document networking components and connections.  The applicant will have the responsibility for ensuring active networks and servers are secure and fully accessible to properly authenticated users.  The applicant will also provide network administration operations and perform maintenance requests, as well as help to implement system policy.  This person will work with staff in required systems management and operations techniques and processes. 

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
  
• 4+ years work experience in information systems and network architecture and support
  
• 1-2 years of Windows network systems experience (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification preferred)
  
• Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP including firewall configuration and maintenance
  
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Internet, HTTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP and related protocols
  
• Ability to demonstrate the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of complex TCP/IP networks including routers, switches, and firewalls
  
• Ability to demonstrate the configuration, troubleshooting, and repairing of all networks including Microsoft (MS) networks and TCP/IP network components such as Cisco routers and switches
  
• Experience with VMware and virtual environment configurations
  
• Experience working with co-locations and hosted networks
  
• Knowledge of MS Server 2003/2008, MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008, IIS 6/7
  
• Knowledge and experience working with Apache and Tomcat
  
• Experience with setup, maintenance and repair of workstations and servers
  
• Travel required -- 50%
  
• Must be able to convey a professional attitude on conference site
  
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
  
• Must be able to work independently and have a strong work ethic
  
• Association or trade show background preferred
