Hayward Tyler provides engineered pumps, motors and repair services for Power Generation (Fossil Fuel and Nuclear), Chemical Processing, Industrial, and other industries.
We require a New Business Development Engineer with a BS in Engineering who will be responsible for gathering, processing, analyzing and presenting customer, market, product, and competition information to the Management team. Determine applicability of existing Hayward Tyler Group products into new market areas, identify new requirements of existing products and services, and work with design engineering and manufacturing to develop the products and services needed. Job Description and Duties
- Primary function is to gather, process, analyze and present customer, market, product, and competition information to the Management team in specified new business markets, which can be incorporated into yearly business plans.
- Visit OEMs, Architects & Engineers (A&Es), end users, tradeshows and conferences to obtain customer specific information on products, applications, trends, and expectations.
- Determine applicability of existing Hayward Tyler Group products into new market areas. Identify new requirements of existing products and services, and work with Design Engineering and manufacturing to develop the products and services needed.
- Identify new business product development and service opportunities to be implemented throughout the company. Justify and propose investment in equipment and labor to successfully bring the new opportunity to market, coordinate strategies and action plans to accomplish agreed upon goals, track projects to completion.
- Learns how customer's equipment functions, and begins to trouble shoot problems between customer's equipment and HT product. Clearly defines customer's expectations with regard to performance, communications & reporting, major milestones, critical path items, schedule of deliverables, cost assumptions, and payment schedules.
- Identify, coordinate communication with, and justify potential acquisitions and strategic alliances to accelerate sales growth.
- Develop communication tools (literature, advertising, magazine articles, newsletters) for the marketplace to promote Hayward Tyler as a leader in the new business opportunities.
- Develop sales tools and train both salesmen and customers on HT product, applications, and markets.
- Coordinate and participate in tradeshows exhibited by HTI. Assist in creating displays, graphics, and literature. Expected to write technical articles for publishing in magazines, and present papers at conferences.
- Other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Engineering or equivalent job experience
- 10 years work experience in manufacturing marketing (Rotating equipment preferred)
- 5 years work experience in new business development (Power preferred)
- Proven success to develop market studies and developing new markets
- Proven technical selling success to EPC and System OEMs
- Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards and specifications
- Ability to work with outside ad agencies
- Expected travel is 25-75% *yearly
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented, organized, and highly motivated
*25-50% for Marketing individual with sales ability, 50-75% for sales individual with marketing ability.
