Job Description and Candidate Information

Summary
Seeking FT Nurses to service Northern California (Contra Costa County, Alameda County, Oakland, San Francisco regions) works from home base and provides medical case management services to persons whom were injured on the job. The nurse will use medical expertise combined with knowledge of the workers' compensation system to make sure that injured workers receive timely and appropriate medical treatment to promote early return to work and claims resolution. The nurse will facilitate communication and action among employers, insurance carriers, physicians, treatment teams and injured workers.

 

Essential Duties
Essential duties include but are not limited to:  accepts new/transferred case assignments, set up files, performs initial assessment, and reviews past and present clinical information from treating physician.  Formulates plan of action for the rehabilitative process, utilizing accepted guidelines for specific injuries. Communicates in writing and by phone  with claims examiner and employer, providing anticipated and actual disability status and communicates ability to return to pre-injury occupations.  Encourages and initiates dialogue between the injured person, physician, employer and claims examiner. Travels locally to attend physician visits with injured persons to provide opportunities for collaboration and coordination of services, treatment plans, dialogues with the physician to facilitate appropriate medical treatment, and provide authorizations to implement services as authorized.  Maintains confidentiality of injured worker's medical, disability, and demographic information. Prepares and submits professionally typed case management reports and billing sheets.

 

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Current CA RN License
  • Experience as a Work Comp Field Case Manager 
  • Strong clinical background
  • Enjoys working with a diverse group of people  
  • Ability to type 40 wpm with strong computer skills (MS Office) 
  • Available to drive locally (within a 60-70 mile radius)
  • Experience and ability to provide professionally typed reports
  • English, grammatical and critical thinking skills
  • Prefer working from a "home base"
  • Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Enjoys administrative work
  • Works well independently with little supervision
  • Possesses strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Prefers a semi- flexible schedule and work environment
  • Excellent work ethics with strong moral character
  • Adapts easily to schedule changes
  • Enjoys weekends and holidays off!
