Summary: The Nurse Educator provides leadership and clinical expertise to enhance professional nursing education and development and shares responsibility to integrate evidence-based standards of nursing practice into patient care. The Educator coordinates and manages the standard of competency-based orientation and continuing professional development program to improve the quality of nursing care and foster a spirit of clinical inquiry. The Educator is accountable for the development of assessment and evaluation criteria that identify educational needs and measure effectiveness of educational programs aimed at improving patient outcomes.
Education: The candidate must be a graduate from a state approved school of clinical nursing and must possess a current Rhode Island licensure. BSN required, MSN or Education preferred. The Nurse Educator must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. Must also earn 10 CEU’s annually.
Experience: Previous critical care clinical and management experience preferred. Five years experience in clinical nursing, teaching, program development, implementation and evaluation required.
