NURSE MANAGER IV- OTOLARYNGOLOGY UNIT Seeking department head with administrative authority and responsibility for the management and direction of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the Otolaryngology Outpatient Clinic. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Facility philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Opening is immediate need and temp to full-time opportunity based on mutual interest. REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must possess current DC license as a Registered Professional Nurse. A minimum of four years experience preferred to include: one year of related clinical experience and a minimum of two years progressive supervisory/management experience in an acute care facility. Experience in a University Teaching Hospital preferred. Masters degree in Nursing preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; expert knowledge of nursing principles, practices and skills; expertise in clinical area for which application is made. Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to function independently. RESPONSIBILITY: A. Administers and maintains all department services in accordance with standards and criteria established by Joint Commission, State, Local and Federal agencies to ensure compliance to those external requirements. B. Plans, directs, implements, monitors, and evaluates a 24 hour neuro surgical service delivery system to ensure that patient care and customer service performed is according to standards. C. Coordinates and collaborates with office staff, physicians, patients, families and other departments in order to provide patient and unit services. D. Establishes system and facilitates ease of communication between Department of Otolaryngology and referring physicians. E. Monitors patient satisfaction scores and initiates actions and programs to maximize satisfaction of patients and families. F. Acts as liaison between department and OR's to assure smooth coordination of scheduling and availability of needed personnel and supplies. G. Promotes professional development of staff, residents and students by planning participating in, and evaluating educational opportunities. H. Facilitates participation of department staff and physicians in research and development activities. I. Recommends, facilitates, promotes and evaluates marketing activities for new and current neuro surgical programs internally and in the community. J. Appraises, forecasts, and determines a desired set of future conditions and strategies required to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization within Otolaryngology department. K. Assumes overall responsibility (directly or through delegation to other staff members) for personnel management for the unit/department to include, but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting and terminating employees. L. Implements and monitors departmental operational and capital budgets within administrative guidelines. M. Assumes direct responsibility for answering and responding to all patient clinical calls and inquiries of an urgent nature, particularly pre and post operatively. N. Responds personally to all patient satisfaction issues, patient questions and concerns regarding prescriptions. O. Assumes responsibility for smooth coordination of clinical operations. P.
