To assist the neurologists in the Medical Group with providing care for outpatients at Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals. To provide patient care and management under the supervision of The Medical Group of Christiana staff neurologists. To develop and provide administrative support and documentation for neurologists in collaboration with their respective office personnel.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Collaborates with the neurologists in providing and supervising direct inpatient care and management of patient medical treatment and medication.
•Initiates and interprets laboratory, x-rays and other diagnostic tests and results as necessary and appropriate.
•Evaluates medical information obtained from performing physical examinations and testing.
•Prepares and dictates patients progress notes, history and physicals as well as consult letters to referring physicians and health care providers.
•Prescribes medication and independently initiates treatment pursuant to Rules and Regulation promulgated by the Joint Practice Committee as defined in 24 Delaware code 1906(20).
•Participates in the design and implementation of care management plans in collaboration with neurologists, care managers, etc.
•Acts as a liaison for patients, families, and health professionals.
•Participates in continuing education, and maintains required credentials.
•Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
•Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established CCHS safety rules and practices; reports to Chair or Vice Chair, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
•Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
*Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or certification as a Physician Assistant.
*Nurse Practioner/Physician Assistant experience in pediatric medicine, neurology or neurosurgery preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Licensure or license eligible for Delaware Registered Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner as set forth by the Delaware Board of Nursing or Certification as a Delaware Physician Assistant
•Certification by the appropriate national organization for area of specialty
•Certified in BCLS, ACLS and TNCC
