Seeking candidates for a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant clinical position at Pratt & Whitney BS degree, Master's degree preferred. Licensed in CT as APRN or PA. 1) Provide clinical care in Pratt & Whitney's East Hartford, CT and Middletown, CT clinics with occasional coverage in the Cheshire clinic. This includes the medical evaluation and treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses, emergency medical treatment and triage. In addition, provide preplacement, periodic medical surveillance and fitness for duty exams.
2)Work collaboratively with a team of health care providers at each clinic to ensure consistent, seamless high quality clinical services.
3)Provide guidance to environmental, health and safety professionals, managers, human resources, public relations, emergency response providers, security, legal, workers compensation staff, and outside medical providers. Evaluate occupational health issues, answer questions and actively participate in problem-solving and strategic planning.
4)Provide guidance to health professionals and managers when an employee's medical condition may affect his or her ability to safely and effectively perform the job.
5)Work collaboratively with environmental, health and safety professionals to evaluate and control potentially hazardous agents and minimize workplace illnesses and injuries and health care costs while maintaining high quality clinical standards.
6)Integrate medical department's clinical function into the Environmental, Health and Safety organization and other corporate functions to positively impact overall business objectives and to enhance the value and recognition of the medical department's services.
7)Understand the processes, job tasks and potential hazards at P&W sites, both within and outside Connecticut.
8)Work collaboratively with the Medical Director and Assistant Medical Director to ensure compliance with health requirements mandated by federal and state agencies such as OSHA, EPA, FAA, DOT, HIPAA, FMLA, as well as all other applicable regulatory agencies and regulations.
9)Work collaboratively with Assistant Medical Director to develop, implement, update and standardize occupational health policies, procedures and programs, including:
a)Disability Management: standards for acute medical care, medical case management and methods of managing employees with disabilities and absenteeism.
b)Medical Surveillance: Preplacement, medical surveillance and fitness for duty medical evaluations protocols. Develop and implement a strategy to update testing needs as exposures and job assignments change.
c)International Travel Medicine: Travel medicine program that includes pretravel immunizations and advice and interaction with emergency assistance vendor.
10)Create and update clinical treatment protocols.
11)Apply the tools of Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) in the clinical function.
12)Represent P&W interests at professional meetings and build strong relationships between P&W and outside health care providers.
1)A minimum 6 years of experience in industry strongly preferred. Competence, experience and knowledge of workers' compensation, ergonomic issues, regulatory compliance, and standards of care. Expertise in musculoskeletal diseases, medical surveillance exams and the evaluation and treatment of workplace injuries and illnesses and chemical exposures and concerns.
2)Willingness and availability to travel to CT clinical sites.
3)Program development, leadership, and management skills. Ability to develop strategic plans, establish policies and cost effective quality programs in a manner that addresses medical issues and business concerns. Strong computer skills required.
4)Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent oral presentation and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and those in the medical and regulatory communities as well. An understanding of business needs and an ability to interact with non-medical business people. Ability to address customer concerns and problems, and to resolve issues in a way that instills confidence.
