Medical-Surgical Units, Clinical Decision Unit, Intermediate Care Unit

Cooper University Hospital is a leading provider of comprehensive health services in southern New Jersey and the Delaware Valley. A Level I Trauma Center providing tertiary care for adults and pediatrics, with 540 beds and more than 550 physicians in over 75 specialties, and offering a full range of services.

10^th Floor

·         Includes 61 total beds: North 10, 36 beds, acute care medical-surgical unit;

·         South 10, 13 beds, medical-surgical unit, including telemetry and negative pressure rooms;

·         Clinical Decision Unit, housed within North 10, recently opened providing care for patients admitted mostly from the Emergency Room and requiring observation;

·         Intermediate Care Unit, 12 beds, caring for patients on ventilators and/or transferred from Critical Care.

The Clinical Director, 10^th Floor

·         Reports to Senior Director Medical-Surgical Nursing.

·         Provides leadership and coordination of clinical and administrative functions.

·         Very active in daily operations

·         Supports and empowers teams and individuals to make decisions and implement change.

·         Develops staff and mentors emerging leaders.

·         Responsible to evaluate productivity and to guide effective resource utilization.

·         Accountable for a staff of ~100 FTEs, including RNs and Critical Care Techs.

Requirements and Desired Attributes:

·         At least 3-5 years management experience and strong leadership skills required.

·         Background in medical-surgical care is ideal.

·         Excellent communication skills, with ability to foster relationships among staff and between disciplines.

·         Must be highly visible and well organized, with excellent follow through.

·         Strong business acumen is needed.

·         Bachelor’s degree required, along with current or eligible RN license in New Jersey; Master’s degree  preferred.
