About the Job

What you will do

Reporting to the Ops Site Supervisor, the foreman will be an integral part of the department responsible for the supervision of direct reports in the safe and efficient repair and maintenance of a technical training facility. As well, the foreman is required to analyze current processes to maximize asset utilization through the efficient and effective use of skilled and non-skilled unionized employees. The normal schedule for this position is 1st.

How you will do it


1. Health and Safety:. This includes toolbox training, job assignments, monthly housekeeping and safety meetings, new employee orientation, and investigations.

2. Providing Technical Expertise: the foreman will be accountable to ensure that all activities in the department are prioritized and performed in an efficient and effective manner within the guidelines of the Collective Agreement, Company policies and procedures. Liaising with other departments and Engineering staff are essential in ensuring objectives are achieved.

3. Employee Management: Through the communication of job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures, the expectation is to create an efficient, consistent, cooperative and respectful work environment within the guideline of the Collective Agreement, Company policies and procedures.

4. Administrative: These responsibilities include weekly scheduling, overtime canvassing and recording, payroll and labor allocation, maintenance work orders, job and task analyses, parts requisitions and other duties as required











What we look for
Required


Post-Secondary Education, Skilled Trades License
3 years in the supervision of skilled trades, unionized personnel in the maintenance and repair of mobile and fixed equipment.
Ability to correctly prioritize requirements
Strong analytical skills
Excellent communication skills
Maintenance Management systems
Shop Floor presence
